Kicking out the Ladder

A friend of mine Tim Berry recently posted  a video link by Honda talking about “Kicking out the Ladder”.  It was a great video that encouraged me to think about how human beings unlock potential.

Think about this, it often takes a crisis before we are forced to change.  The current marketplace is a great example of this.  A lot of people in the United States and around the world are currently forced to become Entrepreneurs.  They don’t have a clue (most of them) how to start their own business nor did they ever care to learn.  But now they have to and all their brain energy is being used on finding new ways to earn a living.

There is no doubt that many new and exciting businesses will be formed out of this type of world recession.  I remember hearing a while ago that the only difference between a coal and a diamond is the amount of pressure and heats that’s place on it.

Life is never supposed to be 100% predictable.  There are upswings and downswings in everything.  Here are a few examples:

After winter comes spring, and after spring comes summer.

Waves are constantly attacking and retreating along the shores.

The stock market about every ten years or so has a cycle of booms and busts.

Both trees and animals lose their “skin” every season in order to gain a new one.

And finally my personal favorite, every great organization at the death of an old leader often has a new vibrant person arise to take that organization to even bigger heights.  So instead of getting mad at the person who burned down the ladder.  Be excited that you will be forced to go bigger and higher than you ever thought possible for you.  There are no possible retreatsin the life game right now and we need every possible brain focused on finding the right way out of this mess.  So how are you dealing with the loss of your ladder?
