How to fix your “in” network

Published by mikhutt at 4:24 pm under Uncategorized Edit This

You know the old saying “success breeds success.”  It’s true for so many other areas as well.  A lot of times we go searching for the answers to life’s problems from people who have never walked the road we are traveling on.

A personal favorite of mine is seeking business advice from salaried employees.  It never made sense to me yet so many of us seek out counsel from our hair stylists, our neighbors who are looking for jobs, the mailman, or a friend’s friend’s friend who started a business once and failed miserably because he thought all he had to do was open up the store.

So how do we go about fixing this issue?  It’s very simple and actually comes from the Bible.  We take a look at someone’s fruit.  And what I mean by that is to see what kind of results a person has when they commit to an activity.  What kind of company do they keep and what kind of priorities they have?  Does trouble seem to follow him/her where ever he/she goes?  Are the people you surround yourself winners?  Do they quit the minute it gets hard?

You are only as good as your network.  So be picky.  Let people earn the right to be your friend.  Make sure they hold the same values and priorities that you do (if not better).  What you’ll find is that as your network of personal relationships improve your life will also.  And remember to do it all while being humble.  No one likes arrogance.
